The total number of wearables shipped worldwide in Q4 2016 was 33.9 million, out of which, Xiaomi has managed to ship 15.7 million. With a market share of 15.4% Xiaomi has seen 31% growth in market share in comparison to last year.
The Chinese smartphone maker has kept a different approach to capture the wearable industry. It has been focused on manufacturing low-cost fitness trackers, and keeping the quality up to the mark. For now, the major market behind Xiaomi’s success is China followed by India. If Xiaomi plays its cards right, it can surely come at the top spot. One thing that keeps the company limited is the lack of global recognition and expertise, but we believe Xiaomi will hit back harder to get that top spot in coming years.
